Finally, a solution...
Content management systems (CMS) are one of the constant requests clients make to agencies with regard to website builds. Time and again page creation and media management are seated at the core of every site, with a variety of other apps sitting on top of this to complete the build. The CMS is often then hurriedly completed with little thought for usability and extensibility, letting down what would be an otherwise a great product.
With this in mind, we built Site Foundry (SF) – a complete CMS that is brand-able to your agency livery (with nothing indicating that we built it), fully featured, flexible, extensible and portable – and specifically designed for agencies.
Flexibility
One of our biggest irritations about the majority of content management systems is the single template rule; "Sorry, pages can only look like this…". SF changes that by approaching each page as a resource, each resource can be output in a variety of ways, limited only by mime type (for example XML for an RSS feed). This all sounds complicated, but as an agency this can all be configured quickly and easily; and you never need worry about it confusing your client. Each part of SF - down to each input field - can be controlled by the access control list associated with the core and modules. The templates are built in Smarty - so anyone with simple HTML & CSS knowledge can quickly create new templates to upload. This can also limit your clients' content entry, so your beautiful designs are never sullied with
Extensibility
Having the basis of an expandable site is one feature we don’t think you can do without. Spending money on any web application becomes costly and often prohibitive. You can go open-source, but then you’re locked into a process of "Wait for us to fix that…", which is only fair, which is only fair as the application is being developed by goodwill.
This makes the remit for modules almost endless, and is only limited by your imagination. Finally you can say, I want something to do this and know the answer will be yes.
Plus we have a library of ready-to-go modules that will get you up and running in no time; blogs, forums and eCommerce are all catered for - of course stability, reliability and usability are all at the heart of their development.
Portability
Everyone has their favourite server, and regardless of whom you talk to they will think it’s far better than everything else (and won’t hesitate to tell you about it).
Because there is no pleasing some people (Server Geeks you know who you are) Site Foundry will work on a variety of servers, from IIs and ISA to a multitude of UNIX varieties.
Configuration and roll-out is simple, completely customisable and designed to make you look good. You can put your logo all over the product, give it some relevant colours and call it anything you like.
It’s secure too – using the highest standards for checking incoming files, acl and data processing. Even AJAX transactions are checked and compared with a valid checksum to test for illegal operations.
